Monica Ford, actress, model and now, by getting behind the camera, photographer; is causing a stir on the art scene with her unique, sexy, intelligent images.
Ford, originally from Austin, TX, transplanted to NYC in late 2000 to work in theatre. Ford worked as an actress and print model in NYC, which she believes, helped to spark her
photographic eye. A year later, in a small flat in the West Village Monica and her long-time partner Tom, a noted illustrator, designer and photographer, launched An Eye Full Studio.

Monica worked side by side with Tom, a seasoned photographer,developing her eye for art direction while learning the technical aspects of each shot. A part of photography of which she admits to continue to seek Tom's tutelage.
"It is an amazing rarity to find a person with whom you can live, learn, love, work and be continually creative with."
In 2005, Monica and Tom relocated to LA.
In her photographs (begun in spring of 2007) Monica places herself in the role of characters of her own creation.
"To me, creating an image that delivers an interesting story is about fully becoming the character in that narrative. The only way I know to do that is by carving out a little section
of myself and cranking up the volume on that part of me."
Although, Ford uses herself as the model in the majority of her photographs,rather than being true self-portraits she uses herself as a vehicle for commentary on a variety of issues: the role of the woman, the role of the artist and many more.
Ford describes her images as "narrative fragments."
It is through these provocative, eclectic images that Monica Ford has developed a distinct and signature style early in her photography career. She is definitely one to watch!
