“My Wish Was Her
Command” gets right to the point opening with, the exact reason the reader
picks up this story to begin with, sex. Author Dan Moran’s writing turns simple
activities, such as putting a loved one’s shoes on her feet, into erotic acts.
As Moran puts it, this
book is for “those who love safe, sane, and consensual BDSM.” In the first chapter, the nameless narrator
musters up the bravery to tell his wife Justine that he “desperately” wants her
to spank him. The characters have never been in a kinky relationship before. It’s
exciting to join them on their erotic journey from beginners in bondage, to
lovers forever altered by their new experiences with each other. The fact that
the couple is married yet new to all of this is important: They’re outside of
their comfort zones but have enough trust in each other so that it’s not frightening,
thus covering most readers’ BDSM preferences.
The reader doesn’t forget
that the characters are married—in fact, many of their erotic moments stem from
situations that arise because they are married, such as a punishment for not
putting away the laundry. Situations like this remind the reader that this
couple could easily be us—just “average” people enjoying a not-so-average experience!
Throughout the story, the
author reminds us that the characters sincerely care about each other. After a
particular vigorous spanking, Justine expresses her concerns, “‘I can’t believe
you really want that. It looks incredibly painful.’” She places a hand on my
right cheek, caressing very lightly and soothingly, her voice worried and
caring.”
And we don’t doubt the
narrator’s feelings for his wife: “I’d just had one of my deepest, strongest
erotic desires fulfilled by the woman I loved.” We fall into their own sensual
world, where no one seems to exist except them. Although the book doesn’t
address a plot other than the characters’ budding sexuality, it’s a page-turner—we
want to see how far this couple will go. To see a married couple having so much
fun without outside drama influencing their passion is not only wonderful, but
hopeful as well!
A BDSM story that isn’t
about a man constantly in control is refreshing; we all know how many stories
there are out there involving a woman at the tight end of a leash. It’s truly
appealing to read about a woman calling all the shots, especially from a male
point of view, and it’s exciting to get inside the narrator’s head, knowing
what makes him nervous, how he’s actually feeling, what turns him on.
“My Wish Was Her
Command” is a story that draws you in, teases you in delicious, merciless ways,
and leaves you spent by the last page—and thoroughly satisfied.
